What documents do I need?
Your passport, residence permit (if you have one), driving licence and an address in Hungary or elsewhere in Europe. If you are not a Hungarian citizen, you also need an international driving licence.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the car and the period: from 2 days and from 16 days the daily price goes down. Cars start from €55 a day. Prices are on each car's page, and the request form works out the total for your dates. Monthly rental is available off-season, from 1 October.
What are the driver requirements?
You must be at least 22 and have held a licence for at least 3 years. The minimum rental is 2 days.
How much is the deposit? Do I need a credit card?
The deposit is €200 to €400 depending on the car. There is no card hold: pay in cash, by card transfer or via Revolut, in any currency.
How do I book, and can I cancel?
Choose your dates, send your documents and pay a prepayment of at least €100, which is part of the deposit. If you cancel less than 14 days before pick-up, the €100 is not refunded.
When do I get the deposit back?
Once the period in which traffic fines can arrive has passed: one month for trips within Hungary, two months if you went abroad. If there are no fines, you get the full deposit back.
Is there a mileage limit?
Rentals of 4 days or more have unlimited mileage. Shorter rentals include 500 km a day; beyond that it's 85 Ft per km.
What does the insurance cover?
It does not cover tyres, rims, mirrors, glass, chips or cracks; the customer pays for that damage. Ask a manager about the rest.
Can I drive abroad?
Yes, you can take the car to other EU countries. Leaving Hungary costs a one-off €60 per rental. We pay for one foreign vignette, and the Hungarian vignette and Hungarian toll roads are already included.
Where do I pick up and return the car?
At our office at Tátra u. 5d or at the MOL station at Futó u. 52. Free between 09:00 and 21:00, €50 between 21:00 and 09:00. Delivery to the airport or a hotel is €20 by day and €50 at night. The handover takes up to 40 minutes.
What about fuel and washing?
You get the car clean with a full tank and return it the same way. If it's dirty inside or out, a wash costs €30 (12,000 Ft); interior deep cleaning for heavy dirt is €125 (45,000 Ft).
What's included for free?
A second driver, a child seat or booster, the Hungarian vignette and Hungarian toll roads. Every car has an umbrella, wipes, phone chargers and a phone holder.
Are all the cars automatic?
Yes. We have 9 cars in the fleet right now, and all of them are automatic.
Do you offer discounts?
There are discounts for regular customers and for early booking. Ask a manager for details.
Car rental in Budapest
RentaCar is a car rental company in Budapest. The fleet has BMW and Mercedes estates, BMW X1s and 7-seat BMW 2 Gran Tourers, all automatic. We rent them from 2 days to a month and hand them over at our office, the MOL station, the airport or your hotel.
Driving around Europe
You can take a RentaCar car to other EU countries. Leaving Hungary costs a one-off €60, and we pay for one foreign vignette. For long trips, try the all-wheel-drive BMW 320d xDrive Touring or the Mercedes C 220, whose boot takes three large suitcases.
A car for a big family
For a family or group of up to seven: the BMW 218d Gran Tourer and the BMW 216d Gran Tourer. A child seat or booster is free.
Comfort and business trips
The BMW 520 Touring Luxury with Dakota leather and rear air suspension, the BMW 5 Touring Sport and the BMW 520 Touring, for business meetings and long drives.
BMW X1
The all-wheel-drive BMW X1 Sport and the BMW X1 with a sunroof. The deposit for an X1 is €300.

Living or working in Budapest? Off-season, from 1 October, you can take a car for a month, from €1,170 a month. The longer the rental, the lower the daily price: from €55.
How the price works
The daily price depends on the car and the period: 1 day, 2–15 days or 16–30 days. Choose your dates and car in the form and you see the total straight away. The vignette, a second driver and a child seat are included. All cars are on the fleet page, and all conditions in the rental terms.
